Victoria Police say they have tried all other avenues to identify the male skeletal remains, which were discovered in 2006 at Ferny Creek. By releasing a facial reconstruction, police hope someone will recognise the deceased man or be able to supply information.

Victoria Police has released facial reconstruction images based on scans of skeletal remains, as they appeal for information to help identify a deceased man.

Yarra Ranges Crime Investigation Unit's Leading Senior Constable Danielle Fleming said police hoped a member of the public would come forward with information. "With no DNA match, or identifying features on the remains discovered in Ferny Creek, sadly, we have been unable to provide the family and friends of the deceased closure."

Decayed items of clothing were found with the remains, including parts of a purple scarf, pants and shoes.
