More than 150 schools have been instructed to partially or fully close their buildings due to the use of a type of concrete at risk of collapse, with a union calling it 'nothing short of a scandal'.

Schools minister 'doesn't know' how many schools will have to shut completely

Mr Gibb said the average length of each school closure will"six days", but added:"We want it to be even less than that."Schools minister Nick Gibb has told Sky News that the emergence of new evidence over the safety of the concrete in some schools led to yesterday's announcement about the full or partial closure of over 150 schools.

Adverts on Facebook Marketplace, TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram and WhatsApp claim to be able to make vehicles"ULEZ exempt" in as little as 24 hours using nothing more than the vehicle's logbook. Up to 500 people will be made to wear the devices, which can monitor their whereabouts, enforce a curfew and ban them from going within a certain distance of a victim's home.

The 24-hour walkout by members of the train drivers' union Aslef will be followed on Saturday by an overtime ban. Fewer than half of trains will be running across the country on Saturday, with rail bosses warning of short notice cancellations.
