Here's how to avoid dehydratioThis weekend's hiking restrictions at Camelback and Piestewa are part of a plan the city implemented in October 2021 to reduce the number of heat-related rescues.
The Echo Canyon and Cholla trails on Camelback Mountain, as well as all trails associated with Piestewa Peak Trailhead in the Phoenix Mountains Preserve are included. When there are no excessive heat warnings in effect, Phoenix Parks and Recreation recommends hiking in the early morning or evening hours when the temperature is cooler. Bring plenty of water and sun protection.
