Port Adelaide have been dealt a big double blow after forward Charlie Dixon copped a three-match ban and midfield star Zak Butters was rubbed out for one. Dixon, playing in the SANFL after being dropped from the senior side, was charged with rough conduct for his high bump on West Adelaide’s Jordan White. The incident was assessed as careless conduct, high contact and severe impact, leading to a three-game suspension.

The incident was off the ball, and was graded as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact, drawing a one-match ban. Unless Port choose to challenge the ban and successfully downgrade it at the AFL tribunal, Butters will be ineligible to win the Brownlow Medal. Butters is averaging 27.2 disposals and five clearances per game this season, and has also kicked seven goals.
