Port Adelaide forward Jeremy Finlayson is under investigation from the AFL for an alleged homophobic slur during Friday night’s win over Essendon. The Power released a statement on Saturday night confirming Finlayson admitted to the slur. Finlayson made the club aware of the incident during the three-quarter time break and apologised to the victim after the final siren. He will be counselled by the club leaders in the coming days. It’s been reported that the slur was picked up by umpires’ mics.

“We are aware of an alleged comment made by a Port Adelaide player in last night’s match vs Essendon. We are taking this matter extremely seriously,” AFL spokesperson Jay Allen said in a statement. “AFLIU are now investigating and we will provide an update once that investigation is completed.” Finlayson kicked three goals in the Power’s 69-point victory over the Bombers.

Richmond is playing better, they've dragged the inside 50 deficit back to 20-23. The Tigers are leading the clearances 12-10, and edging contested possessions 49-45. The big issue for the home side is marks inside 50. The Power have seven to Richmond's one. If that trend continues, surely Port Adelaide will make them pay
