The early forecast suggests the Bay Area could be soaked by an atmospheric river next week.
The National Weather Service is warning that a 'potentially stronger storm system' could impact the San Francisco Bay Area next week, likely between Nov. 14 and 17. The system has the potential to be the wettest system the region has seen since the rainy season began on Oct. 1, but with the event still more than a week away, a lot of uncertainty remains in the forecast.
Weather models are in disagreement on whether the region will see over an inch or under an inch of rain in the storm event, but 'there's a little more agreement that we'll be over an inch,' Behringer said. Nov. 15 and 16 appear to be the biggest days for rain with this storm. 'It does look like it has a healthy moisture tap,' Behringer said. 'It's uncertain whether it's going to have that continuous moisture.
