Top public transport bureaucrat and former reporter Matt Phelan will spearhead the new Victorian premier’s office.
Jacinta Allan has announced senior public servant Matt Phelan will become her chief of staff as thePhelan, 52, comes to the job following a stint in a senior management role within the Department of Premier and Cabinet. He worked for a short time as aPremier Jacinta Allan and deputy Ben Carroll.
Others believed to be considered for the role of Allan’s chief of staff included lobbyist and former Labor staffer Mounir Kiwan, and Jess Howard, who had previously worked as Allan’s chief of staff when the premier was minister for transport infrastructure, public transport and major projects.has also confirmed Jess Lindell, Allan’s director of policy and cabinet, has been appointed the premier’s deputy chief of staff.
