A warfare historian reviews House of the Dragon episode 3's battle scene and points out a few inaccuracies. After being passed over for the Iron Throne, Prince Daemon Targaryen forms an alliance with Lord Corlys Velaryon to fight in the Stepstones against Craghas Drahar and his pirates. After a years-long war and right before King Viserys' aid arrives, Daemon singlehandedly takes on the Triarchy army and kills the Crabfeeder to prove himself.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT In an Insider video, war historian Roel Konijnendijk reviewed House of the Dragon episode 3's battle in terms of its realism and historical accuracy. Watch the relevant portion of the video below : The historian takes issue with the battle tactics on display and the conveniently placed cover that Daemon finds, joking that he's wearing "premium-grade plot armor." Konijnendijk also says the "nock, draw, loose" orders given to archers are simply not something that happened historically during battles. In the end, the historian rated the chaotic mess of a battle a 2/10.
Why House of the Dragon Episode 3's Battle Is So Controversial Game of Thrones is known for creating some of the best battle scenes in the history of television, including in the episodes "Hardhome," "Battle of the Bastards," and "The Long Night." Understandably, there were some incredibly lofty expectations for its prequel show to live up to that standard of excellence.
