President Joe Biden introduced a proposal Thursday that would allow high schools and colleges to ban some transgender individuals from participating in sports, according to the Washington Post.

"The proposed rule ... recognizes that in some instances, particularly in competitive high school and college athletic environments, some schools may adopt policies that limit transgender students' participation," the Education Department said in a fact sheet. It said the proposal would give schools"the flexibility to develop their own participation policies."
The Biden administration believes elementary schools should allow transgender athletes to compete, per the Post., which can still be found on his website, states he would"restore transgender students' access to sports" if elected.
