Trump has had a furious exchange with the debate moderators after making false claims about immigrants in Springfield eating dogs and cats. “A lot of towns don’t want to talk about it because they’re embarrassed. “In Springfield, they’re eating the dogs, the people that came in, they’re eating the cats. They’re eating the pets of the people that live there and this is what is happening in our country and it’s a shame,” Trump said. Moderator David Muir said ABC News fact this claim.
ABC News reached out to the city manager there and he told us there had been no credible reports of specific claims of pets being harmed, injured or abused by individuals within the immigrant community,” Taking over the moderator Trump attempted to claim his remarks were true but Muir again said there was no evidence to support his claims. Harris chuckled and then said “talk about extreme” when it was her turn to speak.
