‘Pretty devastated’: O’Connor dropped as Foley gets Wallabies recall | VinceRugari

Wallabies coach Dave Rennie insists the door is not closed on James O’Connor’s international career despite providing a brutal assessment of his last performance at five-eighth, which led to his axing and a recall for veteran Bernard Foley.

If he can’t, Noah Lesioso will get another crack at what Rennie admitted was their problem position - but O’Connor won’t, until he can demonstrate his ability to carry out the game plan. The former NSW Waratahs star has been training individually in Sydney since speaking with Rennie and has been sent the team’s tactical plans to review. Foley hasn’t played for Rennie, with his last match in green and gold the 29-25 defeat to Wales at the last World Cup under Michael Cheika.

“We were very tempted to start Noah in the second Test [in Argentina], but we thought we needed to find out where James was at and give him an opportunity to play at 10. You can see I guess, based on selection where we see Noah [in the pecking order], so he’s a strong chance to be involved next week.
