Get your first look at PrettyLittleLiars: Original Sin, the new reboot series coming to HBO Max from Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
HBO Max unveils spine-tingling first look photos for Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin. The unexpected project is a reimagining of ABC Family's widely successful series Pretty Little Liars, which aired from 2010 to 2017. Loosely based on Sara Shepard's young adult novels, the show centered on the tumultuous lives of a clique of teen girls in the aftermath of losing their group's leader.
Pretty Little Liars turned into a franchise with the spinoff series Ravenswood and the eventual sequel series The Perfectionists. While both were highly buzzed-about properties, they each only lasted for ten episodes. A year after Perfectionists ended, HBO Max threw their hat in the ring, announcing a reboot series was in development. Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa took the reins from PLL showrunner I. Marlene King for the new venture, eliciting mixed reactions.
The photos feature the forthcoming characters with various looks of bewilderment and fear. From school to home, each image alludes to clouds of drama hanging over the stars or right in front of their faces. Most importantly, the photos introduce a new fierce five into the fold, showing Imogen , Minnie , Noa , Tabby , and Faran . While the show will follow a new generation, the villainous"A" will return to wreak havoc.
HBO Max picked quite the mysterious batch of photos with which to promote Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin. Aguirre-Sacasa's presence is clear in the stills, with his trademark mossy and glossy color scheme apparent in every one. Alongside the photo release, the showrunner said he and the team were very conscious that they couldn't compete with the original series, so he was taking what worked from there and running with his own vision.
