San Antonio temperatures are expected to steadily decline through the week as a cold...

A pedestrian tries to avoid puddles while walking along East Houston Street in downtown San Antonio, Monday, May 6, 2019.A cold front is expected to move into the region on Tuesday and will linger in the area through the rest of the week, according to the National Weather Service.

After the cold front moves in, temperatures are expected to steadily decline, and by Saturday the high is predicted to be only 49. The front may also produce rain as it drifts into South Central Texas on Tuesday, said Brandon Gale, a meteorologist with NWS in New Braunfels. Gale said the best chance for precipitation is Tuesday morning, with better chances near Austin. The rain, however, is not expected to be significant."A pretty strong cold front will move through, and after that, heading into the weekend, we're not really going to see much of the warm air return," Gale said."We can expect cooler and drier conditions to linger into the weekend.

After the system moves through the area, it will be followed by multiple cold fronts next week, Gale said. A high pressure system will not move fast enough to warm temperatures up before the next cold front moves in, according to Gale.
