Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford was injured on the eve of the new season, but Daniel Farke says he will soon be 'in the mix'

Daniel Farke expects Patrick Bamford to be 'in the mix for next week' after the Leeds United striker completed another week of training following his recent hamstring injury. Bamford suffered the issue shortly before Leeds kicked off their Championship campaign against Cardiff City last month following two injury-hit campaigns, but Farke is confident that the one-time England international will soon return.

"No, he's not fully fit," Farke said in his pre-Hornets press conference on Friday afternoon. "Because he was out for eight weeks and is just back in team training for more or less six days, so we will still be careful with him."I think this week was also not the easiest week because we trained more or less with just small groups because we had to differ between the players with lots of loads and the players who were not much involved on the pitch.

Injuries have meant Bamford's past two seasons have been something of a stop-start affair, with just eight goals being scored since he earned his solitary England cap following his 17-goal Premier League campaign in 2020-21, but Farke was buoyed by Bamford's pre-season form and says a fully fit and firing number nine will be 'priceless' for his side.
