The incident was reported at a city-operated after-care program at Sunset Ridge Elementary.

PACIFICA – The burning of a pride flag at a Pacifica elementary school is being investigated as a possible hate crime, police said.

The incident was reported at a city-operated after-school program at Sunset Ridge Elementary School on the afternoon of June 6, according to the Pacifica Police Department. Officers learned someone had removed a pride flag that was affixed outside a classroom. Police said the flag was found burned the following day on the other side of the campus.

“This type of crime is in strong contrast with the deeply held values the city of Pacifica and community members believe in,” Pacifica police Chief Daniel Steidle said in a statement.Related Articles
