Anthony Albanese didn't pull his punches when Teal MP Dr Monique Ryan quizzed the Prime Minister on his relationship with fossil fuel advocates.
Albanese throws jibe at teal MP Monique Ryan 's '$5,000 a head post-budget dinner' question alluding to fossil fuel industry ties
Speaker of the House Milton Dick rejected Ms Ryan’s initial question for being outside standing orders given the reference to internal party affairs, which prime ministers are not obliged to answer. The speaker again interjected to point out the question was still “barely within” standing orders but let Mr Albanese answer on the part deemed as being in the public interest.
She then called for a point of order arguing the PM had not “in any way addressed the substance of my question”, seemingly clarifying to the House that the basis of her question was Mr Albanese’s ties with fossil fuel lobbyists not the matter of the dinner’s costs. Climate change advocacy has been a key focus of Ms Ryan’s agenda since she was elected to federal parliament in 2022.
