Whitehead\u0027s sisters and mother are \u0022beyond relieved\u0022 to hear of the arrest of a 21\u002Dyear\u002Dold man in connection with his New Year\u0027s Day death.
A 21-year-old Prince Albert man was arrested Thursday, police said in a release. He will make his first appearance in Prince Albert provincial court Friday morning.
Just before 4 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2022, police responded to a home in the 200 block of 13th Street East for a weapons call. Officers located Whitehead with life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital, where he died. Investigators do not believe it was a random act.Whitehead’s sisters and mother are “beyond relieved” to hear of the arrest, his sister Charmaine Poorman said in a Facebook message.
“It’s a start to a proper healing process for us. All we wanted for Alex from the beginning was justice! Alex’s character and memory deserves justice,” Poorman said. “It has felt like a long 4 months of questions and wondering thoughts about the people who did this to him. ‘Why?’ ‘How can these guys harm people and take someones life?’ All we can continue to hope for is ALL who were involved get arrested and charged with what they deserve.
