The Queen's beloved pets have a new home

Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York will reportedly be taking care of the Queen's corgis following her death. Queen Elizabeth II owned more than 30 corgis during her lifetime, but is understood to have stopped breeding them years ago because she was reluctant to leave any behind.

But Muick and Sandy, two of the Queen's more recently acquired dogs, were understood to have been gifted to her by Andrew and his daughters. Reports now suggest that Andrew, his ex-wife Sarah and his daughter Beatrice will be involved in looking after the dogs. between 1933 and 2018, when the last surviving member of the royal corgi family died. Willow was put to sleep in 2018 after a "cancer-related illness."Muick was reportedly given to the Queen to keep her company whilst Prince Philip was in hospital and Sandy was given to her on what would have been the then Duke of Edinburgh's 100th birthday. Willow was the 14th generation descended from Susan, the Pembroke Corgi given to Queen Elizabeth on her eighteenth birthday in 1944.

Reports suggest that Andrew and his daughters promised to take care of the Queen's corgis in the event of her death. Andrew and Beatrice have been seen taking the dogs for walks in recent months.
