An anti-monarchy group has filed a police report against Prince Andrew alleging he used a false name when setting up a business.

Prince Andrew has been named in a bizarre police report filed by an anti-monarchy group in the latest setback for the scandal plagued Duke of York. An anti-monarchy group has filed a police report against Prince Andrew accusing the Duke of York of filing financial documents under a fake name.

Graham Smith, the chief executive of Republic, submitted a complaint to Scotland Yard last week accusing the disgraced royal of using false information in documents filed to Companies House, the UK registry of all businesses in the country. It is alleged the Duke of York used the pseudonym “Andrew Inverness” in 2002 when he set up business Naples Gold Limited with sports retail tycoon Johan Eliasch. Andrew, 64, ultimately used the pseudonym – which appears to take inspiration from his title as the Earl of Inverness - for four companies registered at Companies House. Mr Smith told The Telegraph newspaper that the ex-working royal “must be held to the highest standards' and'the royals appear to believe they can act with impunity”. “The apparent filing of false information with Companies House may seem trivial, but the UK faces serious issues of fraud committed in this way,” Mr Smith said. Speculation surrounding the Duke and Duchess of York’s financial dealings has been a major preoccupation among British tabloids and will be the subject of a new book by royal author Andrew Lownie. Mr Lownie told SkyNews.com.au that the book would place Andrew’s previous role as a “Trade Envoy” for the United Kingdom under a microscope “The new book looks at how a couple who separated within a few years of marriage can describe themselves as ‘the happiest divorced couple’ and examines whether he has used his government role as Trade Envoy and she her charity roles and royal status to line their own pockets,” he said
