Harry's spokesperson said the King was too busy for a catch-up with his son who is in the UK this week - but another phrase in the statement stood out even more.
I'd just recorded a prearranged interview with the chief executive of the Invictus Games when an unexpected guest arrived at the Invictus conference. With his arm propped up against the car window to hide his face, Prince Harry was back, a day earlier than most of us had thought. So, would this mean more time to potentially see his family? Well, no. The duke's spokesperson said the King was too busy for a catch-up with his son.
His trip revolves around events to mark the 10th anniversary of the launch of the Invictus Games. Chief executive Dominic Reid was there from the start and told me it's always been more than a patronage for Harry, it's a genuine passion, and he doesn't believe the split in the family has had any kind of negative impact. 'There's the business of him being in a different place,' Mr Reid said. 'So I see him face-to-face less regularly. We all do.
