Prince Harry has delivered an emotional speech to the United Nations, urging people across a divided world to reclaim their democracies and leave a better future for their children.

The prince spoke at the UN General Assembly on Nelson Mandela DayIn a speech to the UN General Assembly's annual celebration of Nelson Mandela International Day , the Duke of Sussex challenged people to adopt Mr Mandela's spirit of hope as the world faces war, climate change, a pandemic and decisions around constitutional rights.

He said a photo on his wall of his mother meeting Mr Mandela in Cape Town in March 1997, five months before her death, was in his heart every day. The world was at "a pivotal moment," he said, referencing the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, a small number of people "weaponising lies and disinformation at the expense of the many", the war in Ukraine and "the rolling back of constitutional rights here in the United States".
