The Duke of Edinburgh has left hospital after being treated for a 'pre-existing condition'.

The Duke of Edinburgh has left hospital after being treated for a "pre-existing condition". Prince Philip was seen getting into a car in a secluded street behind King Edward VII's hospital in central London after a four-night stay. The 98-year-old did not respond to photographers as he was driven away.

He has now returned to Sandringham to spend Christmas with the Queen. The palace said in a statement: "The Duke of Edinburgh has today left hospital after being discharged by his doctor and is now back at Sandringham. "His Royal Highness would like to thank everyone who sent their good wishes." Buckingham Palace would not go into details about Philip's pre-existing condition, or the nature of his treatment.
