Prince William 'acted as peacemaker and invited Harry and Meghan to Windsor walkabout to show unity'
The Prince of Wales invited the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan, to meet crowds of well-wishers outside Windsor Castle to show 'unity' after the death of Queen Elizabeth, Royal sources have claimed.
Speaking after the walkabout, a royal source told The Mirror: "The Prince of Wales thought it was an important show of unity at an incredibly difficult time for the family." Then the two couples went off in separate directions to speak to people on different sides of the road, as is traditional for royal walkabouts. All four royals took bunches of flowers to add to the sea of tributes and shook hands with people who had come out to meet them. Meghan shared a hug with one girl, who looked very emotional at their meeting.
The meeting comes after months of drama between the two couples, with Meghan and Harry making several accusations about the Cambridges in their Oprah Winfrey interview. Meghan claimed Kate made her cry during the infamous bridesmaid dress fitting ahead of her royal wedding, while Harry said his brother was "trapped" in the royal system.
