A royal insider believes Princess Catherine will take a significant step towards healing old wounds with Prince Harry and Meghan during the Christmas period.
Princess Catherine is expected to extend an olive branch to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle this Christmas , a former royal staff member has revealed. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who stepped back from official royal duties in January 2020, have been estranged from Princess Catherine and Prince William in recent years.
Tensions were heightened following Harry and Meghan's explosive 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, their Harry & Meghan Netflix series, and the release of Harry's tell-all memoir Spare in 2023 that laid bare the extent of the tensions between the two couples. After years of strained relations, Princess Catherine is expected to reach out to the Sussexes over Christmas, signalling a possible step toward reconciliation. Former royal butler Grant Harrold believes the Princess of Wales, 42, may be ready to move towards mending the fractured relationship. Speaking on behalf of Slingo on Tuesday, Harrold said Catherine could reach out to Harry and Meghan over the holiday period, potentially through a FaceTime call. 'I believe that Catherine will reach out to Harry and Meghan and wish them a Happy Christmas, and I think Harry and Meghan themselves will possibly reach out,' Harrold said. The last time Princess Catherine and Meghan Markle spent Christmas together was in 2018. Harrold, who worked in the royal household of the now-King Charles and Queen Camilla between 2004 and 2011 and knows both the Prince and Princess of Wales and the Duke of Sussex, highlighted the significance of the festive season
