Princess Diana, who would have turned 61 today, was a skilled interior designer
Princess Diana, who would have turned 61 today, was the undisputed style icon of the eighties style icon with her perfectly coiffed short hair, giant shoulder pads and pearl necklaces.
However, what you may not have realised about the devoted mother was that she also had incredible interior design skills. When she married Prince Charles in 1981 she was just 20 years old and shortly after she moved into Apartments 8 and 9 in Kensington Palace. The sitting room had pale yellow walls which were very fashionable at the time. As we can see from this picture there was a black high gloss grand piano which is the perfect place for showcasing lots of family pictures. There is stucco-style decoration in a floral pattern around the windows and a yellow window seat for Diana or the children to gaze out across the palace grounds.
From this angle we can see better the millennial pink sofas with fringe detailing. She also has a very fluffy white carpet which looks good enough to nap on, a marble fireplace and a large bookcase.
