Steven Frogg was left with broken bones after fellow inmates found out he tried to kill a four-year-old

A man who slashed and battered a four-year-old boy before leaving him in a puddle of blood on the pavement was beaten up after fellow prison inmates found out about his crimes.

Frogg was jailed in 2013, having launched the attack moments after being asked to babysit the little boy. The helpless child suffered five slash wounds to his scalp, leaving his skull fractured, with further a slash wound to his neck and two stab wounds to his back. CCTV at the front door of his home throwing the boy on to the street outside.

Frogg had been at the Lancashire prison since August 2021 but his fellow inmates did not the details of what he had done. Prosecuting, Matthew Conway said: "On the day before the assault, another prisoner expressed anger towards the victim after finding out about his offence of attempting to kill a four-year-old boy."

The court heard that Cook has 25 previous convictions for 67 offences. The most recent was in 2019 when he was one of three men who snatched a woman off the streetand held her captive for four hours while threatening brutal violence. The gang demanded £2,000 from her boyfriend not to cut her throat after being angered over a "slight insult at a shop".
