Robilliard said Mallard appreciated the elegance and artistry of antique “edged” weapons such as the 17th or 18th century jade hilted Mughal khanjar, or dagger, that fetched $146,400. Another weapon listed as an “extremely rare Vijayanagra, Chakravarti Short Sword” was estimated at $15,000 to $25,000 but fetched $85,400.An Ottoman Turkish Shamshir, an Omani jambiya, a Moroccan Koummya, a Hindu Kush Jamadhar Katari and an 18th century southern Indian Deccan Chilanum were among the other deadly weapons offered from Mallard’s collection.

Robilliard said Mallard believed that “collectors were custodians of culture” who cared for objects and preserved them for future generations.Smith & Singer’s August 21 Important Australian Art auction Lake Colac and the Warrior’s Hill, from Corangamorah, 1863, by Nicholas Chevalier, sold for an auction record price of $1 million., 1840, depicting Elizabeth Bay House from across the harbour, fetched $750,000 .
