Banijay UK - which owns the production company, Endemol, behind big TV shows including Big Brother - announced the news in a statement shared following allegations made against Russell Brand.
Entertainment company Banijay UK has confirmed it is launching an urgent internal investigation into the allegations of rape and sexual assault surrounding Russell Brand.
Banijay UK has now released a statement to announce an urgent internal probe following the allegations and Russel's denial. Banjiay UK owns Endemol production, which was behind Big Brother and the spin off shows of the hit reality programme. Brand hosted spin off Big Brother's Big Mouth in 2004, which was originally titled EForum.
While one of the staff members revealed they were left "in tears", another revealed times where she had to collect Brand from his hotel room and he would appear in his underwear, before suggesting they had a "quickie" before filming. The woman could not tell if he was joking, while she added that his behaviour was discussed widely by those on set.
"We will be asking the production company who produced the programmes for Channel 4 to investigate these allegations and report their findings properly and satisfactorily to us. In the many years since the alleged incidents took place, there has obviously been extensive change in Channel 4’s management and commissioning teams. Today, Channel 4 has a zero-tolerance approach to unacceptable behaviour and has a robust Code of Conduct.
"Now, during that time of promiscuity, the relationships I had were absolutely always consensual. I was always transparent about that. Then almost too transparent, and I'm being transparent about it now as well.
