Prop turned lifesaver; club greats working mines: Where Broncos’ ‘06 GF team is now
Hunt burst into the NRL in 2004 as a 17-year-old teen freak who played every game of the season and won the Dally M rookie of the year. But it was in 2006 that Hunt broke through to make his Maroons and Kangaroos debut. Hunt shocked the rugby league world when he joined AFL side the Gold Coast Suns for their inaugural season in 2011 and played three seasons before a third code switch to rugby union in 2015 with the Queensland Reds. Hunt made his Wallabies debut in 2017.
Perry was only brought into the 2006 Broncos squad as injury cover, but he became the starting halfback when Brett Seymour was sacked for disciplinary reasons. Perry played a crucial role taking pressure off his halves partner Darren Lockyer and stood tall on grand final day. He spent three seasons at the Broncos before finishing his career in 2009 with the Catalans Dragons in the Super League. Perry now runs his own financing planning business.
