Sergeant Shannon Barnette says she turned her camera off to have a private conversation with the officer who allegedly shot and killed an Australian woman.
Prosecutor Amy Sweasy asked Sergeant Barnette why she switched off her body camera before speaking to Mr Noor.
The body cameras used by Minneapolis police only store the last 30 seconds of vision — without audio — when they have been switched off. Sergeant Barnette denied he demonstrated anything or that the conversation went beyond her asking how he was feeling. In the words of one senior local television reporter, the testimony will be discussed in Minneapolis for years to come.The court also heard what Sergeant Barnette told BCA investigators about the conversation:
