Dylan Gibbons knows it will be extra special if Protagonist wins the Hill Stakes for boss Kris Lees and Australian Bloodstock.

For all but a couple of months of his apprenticeship, Dylan Gibbons has been at Kris Lees’ Newcastle stables, so the opportunity to win tomorrow’s Hill Stakes with Protagonist has jockey, trainer and owner excited.

″⁣It would be great to win a race like this for Kris, and especially because it’s an Australian Bloodstock horse, because Jamie and Luke have been my biggest supporters since day one. I can talk with Luke about racing and his horses whenever I need, and it has been really helpful. Lees and Lovett have watched Gibbons grow up around the Newcastle track and both take pride in what he has achieved.″⁣I can remember him running around as a five-year-old at the track,″⁣ Lovett said. ″⁣When you have known someone for that long and watched them grow up, you kind of want to win a big race with them because it will mean more to all of us. We are going to get a lot of chances with Dylan, but it would be great to get it on Saturday because it has been a bit of a plan.

Protagonist returned under the care of Lees with a second in the Rowley Mile in August, before getting well back from a wide gate and running the best sections of the race to finish fourth behind Just Fine in the Kingston Town Stakes.

‘A very strange day on Capitol Hill’: McCarthy ousted as House Speaker‘A very strange day on Capitol Hill’: McCarthy ousted as House SpeakerFormer White House principal deputy chief of staff Emma Doyle says it has been a “very strange day on Capitol Hill” following the ousting of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Mr McCarthy had been removed from his job as House Speaker for the House of Representatives. Ms Doyle said this has been the first time “in US history” that this has ever happened. “That a motion to vacate the chair has been brought to the floor and actually successfully passed,” Ms Doyle told Sky News Australia. “It’s a very surreal day on Capitol Hill. “A lot of people are brushing up on procedure to see what happens next. “Until Republicans come up with a plan ... it’s really unclear where the House goes from here.”
