Fred Sirieix has said he ‘knew’ his diving champion daughter Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix would triumph at the Commonwealth Games this summer 🏊♀️
Appearing on Lorraine on Monday morning to discuss the return of First Dates Hotel, the presenter complimented Andrea and praised her ‘graft’ as she commented that the teenager was ‘going form strength to strength’.
‘I’m so proud,’ admitted Fred, before revealing that he had been confident in her success after she recovered from a rough start to the year.Fred said a conversation they had convinced him she would win ‘Just before she competed for the Commonwealth Games, I had a conversation with her and I said, “How do you feel?” and she said “I’m ready”. And when she said that I knew she was going to win.’
He added, laughing: ‘I mean it didn’t stop the nerves before she did the last dive, but I knew she was going to win because she had a very difficult beginning of the year and she had to build herself back up. ‘Diving is very much a mental thing. You need to be so positive, you have to have that mindset – a champion’s mindset – and she was ready for it.The First Dates star was a fixture in the stands during Andrea’s competitions
‘Then straight after the Commonwealth Games she went into the European Championship, which she also won. It’s incredible!’
