Santubong MP Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar says it would be a waste of time and money to grill Latheefa Koya on her appointment as MACC chief. FMTNews MACC WanJunaidiTuankuJaafar LatheefaKoya PSC

KUALA LUMPUR: Santubong MP Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar says the meeting between anti-graft chief Latheefa Koya and the Parliamentary Select Committee on Major Public Appointments today is only for administrative purposes.

“It is to satisfy the reform agenda,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby, adding that it would be “a waste of government time and money” to grill Latheefa on her appointment as this is beyond the PSC’s powers. The meeting is expected to take place at 2.30pm. PSC chairman William Leong had confirmed that several issues pertaining to Latheefa’s appointment as Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief commissioner would be raised. Her appointment to MACC was questioned by various quarters who said it should have been vetted by the PSC.“The prime minister was right to appoint her without referring to the PSC unless the laws were amended to refer senior appointments to select committees,” he said.
