A major operation is underway at an abandoned farmhouse and fields in the area

The search operation at a reported abandoned farmhouse and fields in the Magowan Park area, began this morning, and is still ongoing this afternoon.

In a statement issued to the media, a PSNI spokesperson said: "Detectives from the Terrorism Investigation Unit investigating violent dissident republican activity conducted a search in the Brae Head Road of Derry/ Londonderry on Sunday, 12th March."Meanwhile, a 25-year-old man has been arrested by detectives investigating the attempted murder of DCI John Caldwell.

The man was arrested under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000 following a search of a property in Derry.
