It is expected that the attraction will be busier than usual this weekend

The PSNI has asked those travelling to Belfast Zoo this weekend to be considerate of other road users.

Officers have said they expect the attraction to be busier than usual this weekend and have issued advice to those travelling by car. Among their suggestions, the PSNI has asked drivers not to park on double yellow lines or in coned off areas and have suggested that drivers make use of a shuttle service which will run from the Valley Leisure Centre daily from 10:30am.A PSNI spokesperson said: "Over Easter, Belfast Zoo will be busier than usual.

"Please allow extra time for your journey, be considerate to other road users and do not park on double yellow lines or coned off areas. In addition to this there are just under 400 parking spaces available at the Zoo including accessible bays. Alternatively, the Zoo is easily accessible via public transport with Metro services 1A, 1C, 1D, 1E, 1F, 1G, 1J, 2A and 2B departing from Upper Queen Street in Belfast city centre and stop on the Antrim Road opposite the zoo entrance. For all the latest news, visit the Belfast Live homepage here and sign up to our daily newsletter here.
