Heatwave warnings are in place for large swathes of Australia ’s northwest between WA and the NT on Monday. Residents across NSW, the ACT and SA are enjoying a Labour Day public holiday on Monday while Queenslanders have a day off for the King’s Birthday. In Sydney, it will be mostly sunny with a top of 29C, while Brisbane is expecting a top of 32C with the chance of a thunderstorm in the evening.

ACT Canberra will cop a lashing of wind on Monday, with wind speeds hitting a maximum of 45km/h in the afternoon before they ease off to 30km/h in the evening. Australia’s capital city will still remain mostly sunny throughout the day though, with temperatures reaching a high of 23C. VIC Melbourne temperatures will reach a high of 18C, and it is forecast to receive up to 6mm of rain in showers expected in the morning and afternoon.
