Government workers in Tasmania will consider striking for the day if they do not receive a better pay offer than is currently on the table, unions say.

Tasmanian public sector unions have roundly rejected the Government's latest pay proposal, flagging the possibility of full-day strikes as the long-running industrial dispute continues.

The three-year proposal was for an increase of 2 per cent in the first year, 2.25 per cent in the second year and 2.5 per cent in the third year. Tom Lynch from the Community and Public Sector Union said the Government's revised bargaining position would have left workers worse off than previous offers.
