Attorneys with Morgan & Morgan and Shavitz Law Group have filed a collective action lawsuit against Publix over allegations the supermarket chain consistently requires hourly assistant department managers to work off-the-clock without being paid.
The lawsuit, filed Thursday in Florida federal court, proposes a collective action under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act to include similarly situated employees who worked within the past three years across Publix’s 1,300 locations throughout the Southeastern United States. Any and all of the thousands of Publix assistant department managers who may have been affected by the supermarket chain’s alleged unlawful conduct can join the collective action.
