The NSW government’s plans to have the first groups of children returning to school on October 25 and all students back by November 8; up to three weeks after vaccinated adults could return to pubs.

Other year groups will follow in the weeks afterwards, with all students back on campus by November 8.That could be up to three weeks after vaccinated adults in NSW are allowed to return to pubs, gyms and hairdressers, and travel to regional NSW.
But Premier Gladys Berejiklian on Friday said the government would not change its October 25 date because giving schools certainty was essential to their planning. “We have thousands and thousands of staff and school communities across the state who rely on certainty and a plan to go back, planning lessons,” she said.
President of the Secondary Principals’ Council Craig Petersen, representing public school heads, said he “absolutely endorsed” the Premier’s certainty on the October 25 date, although schools were fearing an influx of students once society started opening up.
