The Purdue junior was arrested early in the morning last week. Prosecutors requested he be held without bond. He called police at around 12:44 a.m. on Oct. 5, stating he had killed his roommate, according to a probable cause affidavit filed Thursday. Mr. Chheda, a senior from Indianapolis who was studying data science, died from multiple sharp-force trauma injuries to his head and neck, according to a preliminary autopsy detailed in the affidavit. Last week, Purdue University Police Chief Lesley Wiete called the attack “unprovoked and senseless.”
