Annastacia Palaszczuk says wearing masks indoors will help save lives, but neither she nor acting Chief Health Officer Peter Aitken are advocating a return to a full mask mandate despite more than 11,000 new cases.
"We've got a number of different modelling groups looking at that [the peak] and we hope to have some more formal answers later today."
"In many ways, it's safer in hospitals because people are all wearing masks – in the community, people aren't wearing masks," he said. "That's the real message we want to get out there ... get your masks on and minimise the risk of transmission because that's where we know the transmission is happening."on the state's hospital and health services.
