A new tier of rewards as part of the long-awaited revamp will not be available on Jetstar. But it will be there for all Qantas Loyalty members at the same time.
Already a subscriber?Qantas’ long-awaited frequent flyer revamp will not be available on Jetstar and flights will be refundable for a “fee” of 6000 points, according to details included in planning documents obtained byMarked “draft” and “for discussion purposes”, they suggest the new Classic+ reward program will roll out from July 1. The airline has flagged that it will change its lucrative frequent flyer scheme this year, but has yet to provide details of those alterations.
The note, circulated among senior staff, says: “Because Classic Plus reward seats fluctuate like normal airfares, the Classic Plus seats with the lowest points value will generally sell out first.” “The points required to book Classic Plus reward seats will also drop during sale periods so we encourage members to look early, but also keep an eye out for the regular sales that we run across our domestic and international networks.
“In the long-run, it benefits the brand, and it also drives loyalty from customers, but it will take a year or two,” Mr Kururangi. “It has the potential to really drive a lot of circularity like Amazon and Amazon Prime, where you drive additional activity and get value.”
