Qantas is overhauling its entire board as it seeks to restore trust with the public and will impose a new three-year tenure limit for board directors.
Qantas has committed to overhaul its board of directors, with chairman Richard Goyder agreeing to leave next year as the airline faces investor pressure to renew its leadership to restore trust in the company., Goyder will retire ahead of the company’s annual general meeting in late 2024, Qantas announced in a statement to investors on Wednesday morning. No firm date has been set yet.
Goyder said a “measured and orderly succession” at board level would support the work of new Qantas chief Vanessa Hudson and her management team to improve the airline, which was fundamentally “in a very strong position to overcome its current challenges and deliver for all its stakeholders in the years ahead.”Alex Ellinghausen
Board directors Jacqueline Hey and Maxine Brenner are set to retire in February at the carrier’s half-year results, marking a decade at Qantas. Non-executive director Michael L’Estrange will retire at the upcoming AGM, as announced earlier this year.
