The air traffic control tower at Sydney Airport had received reports of 'flames and smoke' seen coming from the starboard engine of a Qantas flight on Sunday morning.
Flight QF91 from Sydney to Noumea, which was due to depart at 7.37am, abandoned takeoff after the pilot received an emergency radio call.

More than 100 Qantas passengers were forced to evacuate a flight on Sunday morning after reports of an engine fire. Picture: Nine News.
