Qantas boss Vanessa Hudson has unveiled her first full-year result since taking over as chief executive last September.
Qantas boss Vanessa Hudson has unveiled a $1.25 billion net profit for her first full-year financial results since taking over from former CEO Alan Joyce in September last year.
The result was impacted by $198 million in legal provisions over the year, including $128 million to settle the airline’s court case with the ACCC and a $70 million increase to provide for its illegal sacking of the ground handlers. These figures were not included in Qantas’ underlying profit. She said the profit generated would allow the group to invest in fleet renewal. Qantas faced investor and customer criticism over the past couple of years for its delayed purchase of new planes, which resulted in its average fleet age reaching 15 years.
