Qantas is changing up its domestic economy food offering as part of a multi-million dollar investment into the flight experience prompted by customer feedback.

The airline this week revealed the new complimentary hot food items from Australian producers which will be made available to customers at the back of the plane.

The beneficiaries will be passengers on domestic flights of more than two hours who will no longer be handed light snack options such as cheese and crackers. "These hot menu items have been created using quality Australian ingredients and we're pleased to be rolling out a wider range of choice for customers travelling across our domestic network," Qantas Executive Manager of Product and Service Phil Capps said.

Passengers on domestic flights of more than three-and-a-half hours, such as services between the east and west coast, will also receive Weis ice-cream bars.Qantas is investing millions of dollars in customer improvements, after the airline came under sharp criticism.
