There has been a “60 per cent increase in unlawful entries from juveniles” which climbed the very month after the Queensland government “weakened” laws relating to juvenile bail, according to Nationals Senator Matt Canavan.
“The Queensland government told judges to only lock people up as a last resort – bail had to be their first option.
“Then they’ve had the temerity … to unreasonably criticise judges for doing exactly what the government wanted those judges to do. “I just hope the Queensland government eats some humble pie here, stop trying to blame everybody else, just accept it.”
