“Imagine taking one of our biggest hospitals out of the system and what impact that would have. That’s what they’re experiencing right now,” the deputy premier said.
“We have a workforce that gets affected just like everyone else’s workforce,” Miles said.
Despite the drain on the health system, Miles said the government was not considering a return to mandates – at least, not yet. “That advice is we’d certainly encourage people to wear masks – it won’t do any harm to be wearing a mask – but there’s no intention to mandate it at this stage.”
