The Queensland government has announced it will boost health staff numbers if re-elected later this month, while the Liberal National Party is doubling down on its mission to better support victims of crime.
Premier Steven Miles and LNP leader David Crisafulli were both out in force on the campaign trail on Wednesday, spruiking their policies and making new announcements as polling day on October 26 looms.
The target includes onboarding 8,555 more nurses, 2,626 more doctors, 2,000 more ambulance officers, and 2,694 more health practitioners. Further north, Mr Crisafulli was in Townsville and told reporters his government, if elected, would create an advocacy service for victims of crime. “But for those who are victims, they need to know that they matter and justice will be done and they will have the support while justice is being done.”
