A senior constable has struggled to get any government agency to investigate her claims of nepotism and an opaque QPS hiring process.
A Queensland police officer alleges a QPS hiring process has resulted in maladministration and nepotism, but she has struggled to get any government agency to investigate her claims.
QPS policy states that if a member of the selection panel is related to or has a close personal or commercial relationship with an applicant, they must declare this and step down. The senior constable alleged there were problems with the job advertisement – and dozens of others like it – because higher ranks of the QPS use a “lateral transfer policy” over an open merit system.
She said the lateral transfer policy was introduced to be used in limited circumstances, but she had counted 169 closed merit lateral transfers and six open merit transfers for senior constables and constables in the first three months of this year.
